Last night the Boston Red Sox staged a dramatic comeback to save any hopes they had of repeating as World Champs. going in to the seventh inning they were trailing by 7 runs. In the next 3 innings they scored a total of 8 runs to win this game 5, and what could have been their final game of the 2008 season. They have kept their hope alive to again get to the World Series.
What is strange about that? Well, the last time any team in Major League Baseball staged a comeback of 7 runs or more, in a playoff game, was The Philadelphic Phillies in 1929! YES, that 1929, which these days we are often reminded of as being the year of the great Stockmarket crash and the depression of 1929.
